The World Celebrates Muaythai

February 6th was announced as Muaythai Day by the Royal Thai Government and again celebrations were held in over 70 countries.

Again, the Thai Culture Ministry organised the official celebration in Thailand inside the Culture Ministry. HE Sondhaya Kunplume, Minster for Culture chaired the event. The President of the Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage was a special VIP next to the Minister and the international muaythai community was represented by WMC Vice President and IFMA General Secretary Stephan Fox.

All different muaythai styles and its masters were represented. There were special wai kru performances by the children followed by a special ceremony where the students were awarded the traditional mongkol from the Thai masters.

A special meeting took place between the Minster, the WMC and IFMA to report on the interntional development of muaythai and a reconfirmation from the international muaythai community that the tradtional aspects of muaythai including the wai kru, mongkol, pee muay will never be compromised by the members of the WMC and IFMA.
