An Angelic Victory for Yolanda Schmidt
Following a massive success with round 2 of World Muaythai Angels at the U-Tapao International Airport, Thailand, the semi-final and final rounds took place on Saturday December the 16th this time in the Sports Authority of Thailand.
The competition which was sanctioned by the WMC was a sixteen-woman elimination tournament at 57kg which began in April. Due to complications some fighters were not able to continue in the tournament so the organisers merged the semi-final and the final into a Super 4 competition, the winner of which would take home a cheque for 1 million baht and the keys to a Toyota pick-up truck.
The competition has featured many IFMA and WMC superstars for example Sofia Oloffson the WMC European Champion,WMC World champion as well as World Games athlete of the year who was in the earlier stages of the competition. Also on the bill was Chomannee and Yolanda Schmidt both WMC and IFMA superstars.
The first round of the Super 4 saw long term friends Namtan Por Muangpetch (Thailand) go head to head with Chommanee Sor Tehiran (Thailand). After the final round it was Chommanee who took the win in what was a very close fight
Next up saw Yolanda Schmidt (Australia) face Natalie Morgan (USA). Morgan came out strong from the first bell bringing the pressure to Yolanda but the girl from Oz was able to cleverly outscore her opponent taking the win.
The following fight saw Morgan and Namtan battle it for the third place in again what was another epic battle. Namtan ended up taking the win on this occasion.
The final fight for the evening saw Chommannee and Yolanda battle for the number 1 spot in what was deemed the fight of the evening. After a close win Yolanda took the win receiving a cheque for 1 million baht and the keys to a 4-wheel drive Toyota truck. The belt was given by the governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand Mr Sakol Wannapong and the CEO of Muaythai Angels, Mr Jaru.
