Damien Alamos: Muaythai Icon
When the conversation arises as to who is the best muaythai fighter outside of Thailand you can not have this discussion without bringing up French muaythai icon, Damien Alamos.
Damien has spent the majority of his career training and fighting in Thailand mostly out of the renowned Singpatong Sitnumnoi in Phuket amassing an impressive 75 fights with 61 wins.
Damien began training in muaythai at only 8 years old, the common age for Thais to start training under the tutelage of his Uncle Rodrigo Alamos from the Impacts Bordeaux Clubs in Bordeaux, France.
Damien made waves across the muaythai world when he became a 2-time Lumpinee stadium champion, becoming the first non-Thai to defend a Lumpinee title in September, 2012. He also holds notable wins over big names such as Diesellek, Chok Eminent Air and Daoprakai Nor.Sripueng to name a few.
In 2013 Damien defeated Kongbeng Mor Ratanabandit by unanimous decision to win the WMC World Light weight title (-135) at Bangla Stadium in Phuket.
Then in 2014 Damien shocked the muaythai world by announcing his retirement from muaythai at a point where many thought he was in his prime. He then decided to remain in Thailand and converted to Islam.
Much to the excitement of fans in 2020, Damien announced he was going to return to the ring signing a contract with ARENA Fight Championship
