Darren Rolland Becomes the New Intercontinental Champion

Saturday was an exciting night for muaythai fans in Lebanon as Victory Road Championships was held in the capital, Beirut with a packed venue and elite-level bouts. The event went above and beyond all expectations with a total of 21 bouts on the card featuring home-grown fighters as well as international challengers. Donning the microphone was non-other than Grant Waterman to present the fights and also interview the fighters post-bout.

The main fight of the evening was between Omar Halabi from Lebanon and Darren Rolland from France for the vacant WMC featherweight Intercontinental title (57.14KG). Both fighters looked in peak shape as they entered the ring and when the bell rang Omar moved forward putting great pressure on the French man. The fight was very technical with both fighters showing skill and Darren landing very accurate blows combined with slick footwork. Despite the heart and pressure from Omar, it was Darren who got the win via points decision at the end of five rounds, becoming the new Intercontinental champion.

A big thank you must go to the whole team at VRC for putting together a world-class event and we look forward to the next one.
