Farid Villaume: France’s Muaythai Legend

Farid Villaume is one of the most successful and technical fighters to have ever come out of France and racked up over 100 fights across his 12 year career.

Known for his precise boxing skills, he began training at 16 years old and trained under Thai instructors Lom Isarn, Lamkong and Soudareth.

Farid is a two-time WMC world champion receiving the title for the first time in 2001 in an epic battle against Thailand’s Orono Por Muang-Ubon, winning on points. In 2004 he defeated Wanlop Sitpholek from Thailand to become the champion for the second time.

Farid spent many years training in camps in Thailand and is known for his very Thai way of fighting and has beaten some of the biggest legends in the game including Yohan Lidon, Samkor and Ole Larson to name a few. His fight against Yodsanklai is remembered by many as it famously resulted in a draw.

Farid is and continues to be an inspiration to many up and coming French fighters who are looking to represent their country on the world stage. From all at the WMC we salute you.
