Greek Muaythai Recognition 1 Year Anniversary
Olympia was in the centre of Greek civilisation where the first addition of the games took place in 776 BC and evolved into the modern Olympic Games which nowadays the world is celebrating every 4 years. IFMA is proud that the Panhellenic Muaythai Federation has been fully recognised in Greece last year and a special celebration was held to mark the one year anniversary.
Muaythai history can be traced back centuries ago, an ancient art which has developed into an Olympic recognised sport. Therefore for the one year celebration the Greek and Thai government together with the national federation and the world body came together to honour Greece and muaythai.
Before the ceremony began the IFMA General Secretary Stephan Fox made a heartfelt speech proudly in the name of muaythai standing in the heart of Olympia.
The Greek Minister of Sport Georgios Vasileiadis welcomed all delegates together with the President of the Panhellenic Muaythai Federation Ioannis Papadopoulos and the Thai Ambassador to Greece.Mr Chailert Limsomboon.
Andrew Scott the WMC Sport Director was also present to discuss the development of professional muaythai in Greece and the Mediterranean region
The General Secretary thanked especially.the president Ioannis for his dedication and commitment to the sport.
