Indian Muaythai Grows from Strong to Stronger

The UMAI, IFMA’s fully recognised Indian Muaythai Association which has united all Indian muaythai under one strong umbrella body is continuing to work towards gaining full recognition by their NOC and Ministry of Sports.

A special meeting took place between Mr. Prasenjit Singha, President UMAI, Mr. Shri Ram Choudhary, Secretary General UMAI and Mr. Kiren Rijiju Minister of Sports Govt. of India for recognition of muaythai by the Ministry of Sports and inclusion of muaythai in Khelo India as a discipline.

UMAI also submitted their official recognition request to the National Olympic Committee of India and met Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon, Joint Secretary of Association of Indian University who is in charge of inclusion of sports in University Games in India.

India is committed to preparing a strong team for the upcoming Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2022, qualify athletes for the World Combat Games and send the largest Indian delegation to the upcoming IFMA World Championships later this year.
