UAE is Getting Ready for the IFMA World Championships 2023

Abu Dhabi hosted one of the most outstanding IFMA World Championships in 2022 under the patronage of the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee and Sports Council in celebration of IFMA and Muaythai’s recognition by the International Olympic Committee.

UAE has been hosting exceptional events, especially the debut of muaythai at the Muaythai World Expo. The President of the UAE Muaythai Federation, His Excellency Abdullah Saeed Al-Neyadi, who is also the President of FAMA, the Asian continental arm of IFMA, stated that UAE has been proud hosting the World Championships in 2022 and now everyone is looking forward to the 30th Anniversary of IFMA and the Senior World Championships in celebration in the Kingdom of Thailand in May 2023.

The President further stated that UAE prides itself in their grassroots development which showed results at the last IFMA Youth World Championships in Malaysia and they hope to show an even better result at the upcoming Youth World Championships in Turkey. 

The Executive Director of the UAE Muaythai Federation, Tareq Al-Muhairi, further stated that UAE Muaythai, from day 1, focused on gender equality and the success of this has been seen clearly at the national championships not only with the growing numbers of female participation but also with the improvement of skills.

The United Emirates Muaythai Association organized the 2023 Emirates Muaythai Championship this past weekend from the 27-29th of January at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center under the supervision of the general body of sports, the National Olympic Committee and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The event saw over 150 athletes from over 30 clubs with the closing ceremony celebrated with the attendance of various VIP participants who were honored to crown the winners such as Sheikh Zayed bin Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hamdan bin Saeed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan along with members of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Muaythai and Kickboxing including Ali Khoury and Yasser Salem. Also in attendance was His Excellency Sorriot Chasumbat the Ambassador of Thailand to UAE attended on the closing day competitions and participated in crowning some of UAE’s heroes of the competition.

UAE is looking forward to the next big event which will be hosted in March with the Arab Championships and Team UAE is ready to let the UAE flag fly high.
