IFMA Honours Pioneer of Muaythai in Iran

Master Mohammadagha Towhidi needs no introduction in the world of muaythai as he is one of the pioneers of the sport promoting and representing muaythai in the Islamic Republic of Iran and around the world.

He has competed globally and also in the major stadiums in Thailand and after his retirement dedicated his life to the development of the art and sport in Iran, coaching Iranian athletes who represented the Islamic Republic of Iran in major events.

He has been instrumental in promoting muaythai not only as a combat sport but also as a cultural artform and he has been honoured and given many awards by the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran and also the IFMA family.

IFMA President Doctor Sakchye Tapsuwan awarded Master Tohwidi the life achievement award in a special ceremony which was headed by IFMA council member and President of the Muaythai Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Javad Nasiri.

The IFMA President stated that Master Towhidi has been an outstanding ambassador for muaythai and that IFMA is proud to have him in the family.

The IFMA General Secretary shared life long memories from a time where both of them were athletes supporting each other, training together and above all becoming friends. Furthermore Mr Fox said that Master Towhidi is known for protecting the muaythai pillars of respect, honour, tradition, excellence and fairplay.

IFMA leadership joined by video as IFMA congratulated him on his lifetime achievements and award.
