WMC Sri Lanka Unveiled
Saturday the 28th of December in the Royal Mas Arena, in Colombo marks the date for the inauguration of the Sri Lankan WMC which will be showcased through their first event. The Muaythai Federation of Sri Lanka has spent the last 6 months working with the government on the constitution in order for professional events to be able to take place in the island country and have passed the test with flying colours.
The first event is set to blow the roof off as the show boasts 11 professional fights made up from Sri Lanka’s finest athletes. The main event will see S G R Rumesh go head to head with Malinda Amarasingha in the super welterweight division (69.84kg).
President of the Sri Lankan Muaythai Federation Asoka Jayarathna stated that muaythai in Sri Lanka continues to grow from strength to strength. We have been working with the government recently and introduced muaythai into the school syllabus in our country. With the recent set up of the Sri Lankan WMC the development of professional muaythai in Sri Lanka will now be our main focus as we hope to ready our athletes for the international stage.
