Yodsanklai: The Boxing Computer
Yodsanklai Fairtex also known simply as Yod in Thailand is one of the best muaythai fighters of the last 20 years, racking up close to 300 fights across his career. Yodsanklai is often referred to as the boxing computer by the Thai newspapers as a testament to his perfect technique.
Originally from Nong Bua Lamphu Province in the Northeast of Thailand, Yodsanklai began training muaythai at 8 years old when his older brother introduced him to the sport. He began fighting in temple fairs in the area after a few months of training, receiving 20 Baht for his first fight.
After changing camps three times and winning the prestigious Lumpinee title, Yodsanklai joined the Fairtex Gym in 2005.
In 2008 Yodsanklai entered into the muaythai reality TV show ‘The Contender” which was aired across the globe. The show pitted 16 muaythai fighters against each other across 15 episodes with gruelling challenges and fights by way of elimination to determine the winner. Yodsanklai beat John Wayne Parr in the final receiving 150,000 USD and becoming the Contender Champion as well as the WMC world champion.
In 2008 Yodsanklai successfully defended his world title against Russian superstar Artem levin, going on to defend it later in the same year against Madsua Lamai Gym, also emerging the victor. Then in 2009 he went onto defend his title against Cosmo Alexandre and Khalid Bourdif, both successfully.
2010 was a big year for Yodsanklai as he entered the WMC/S1 King’s Cup challenge tournament title defeating Vuysile Colossa, Jordan Watson and Cosmo Alexandre in the final.
In 2012 Yodsanklai faced Vladimir Moravcik from Slovakia for the WMC world middleweight world title, winning by TKO in round 3.
