Fighting Spirit – World Series – Rome

The 23rd of April is a date to remember as Fighting Spirit World Series takes place in Rome, Italy with a gargantuan lineup with 2 WMC title fights on the line. The event which is sanctioned by the WMC features an international roster of some of the world’s best fighters who ‘When in Rome’ bring their A-Game.

Competing for the WMC MAD title in the Super lightweight division (63.5KG) will be local boy Giammarco Giosi as he faces Spaniard Segura Saez in a much-anticipated bout. Both of these fighters have put the work in ahead of the bout and are oozing with confidence so expect fireworks on the night.

Alessio Malatesta from Italy will face Saconchai from Thailand as they face off for the WMC Intercontinental title pit at 66.67KG (welterweight). This is set to be a great matchup as Alessio stated that he is looking to defend his honour in front of his home crowd and will stop at nothing to get the victory.

Also on the main card, Italian muaythai superstar Sveva Melillo will Face Teresa Baos from Spain. Sveva is the newly crowned WMC world champion and new IFMA gold medalist, achieving both accolades within the space of 3 months, a very difficult feat for any fighter to achieve.

IFMA Executive Board Member and WMC Representative of Italy, Davide Carlote stated that professional muaythai in Italy continues to flourish and events such as this showcase the quality of our Italian athletes at the world level. The professional scene is beginning to return to normal now after the pandemic in Italy and we have many shows planned throughout 2022, so keep your eyes open for more upcoming international events.
