Sold out UMF60 ‘Opening of Summer’ voted best event of 2013

South Africa’s Sold out UMF60 ‘Opening of Summer’ was voted as the best event of 2013, the fights was outstanding the entertainment was mind blowing, the after party superb and the people were just fabulous.

The highlight was the juniors battling out for first place, as young as 11 years old showing respect to each other win or lose. KZN really stood out this year giving the dominate Western Province a run for their money unfortunately once again WP were too strong, technical and were able to clinch all their bouts by way of victories.

The Amybiehl Drummers had everyone’s mobile phones out to record what was an outstanding African dance and drumming show, a setting for what was going to be the most special and unforgettable tribute to Nelson ‘Madiba’ Mandela. Quentin ‘Dragon’ Chong had the crowed on their feet with candles and mobile phones in the air for 1 minute of silence while a reel of Madiba pictures been screen on the 8 plasmas and 5 x 5 meter projector, after the minute of silence the song ‘We are the Champions’ played. Russel Christopher who was the head of the National security for Madiba and and His Excellency, Shirish Soni, Ambassador to Kazakhstan also played a role in the tribute by giving an inspiring speech of their experience and personation of Madiba.

Unati 4 times SA ,5 times Western Province and World junior body building champion did a pose down in traditional Muay Boran outfit incorporating the Wai Kru. Last but not least of the entertain was the BBoys showing what international skills South Africa has to offer they had the crowed wanting more.

The first of the two title fights was well known MMA athlete Sihle ‘Somnandi’Khuboni from Muaythai and MMA boys in Durban vs Dalcha “Champion”Lungiambula for the vacant Light Heavyweight Dragon Legends MMA title belt, Somnandi surprised Champion with his strength and power but it was only a matter of time before Champion displayed a perfect performs and showed why he is rated as an international MMA athlete by using his leg to forcing Somnandi to tapout in a Americano submission on the dying seconds of the first of scheduled 5 rounds.

The South African Muaythai Association (SAMA) vacant Middleweight title belt could not have been a better match up than the two best stand up Fighters in South Africa Ceeh ‘Croco Croco’ Khuboni VS Jarred “Rothwieler” Rothwell. The Rothwieler last 7 fights has ended up with 6 KO’s and one went to points, the odds was against Croco Coroc but he displayed some amazing skills and endurance for the fight to go all the rounds, they battered each other for 5 grueling rounds they had the crowed off their feet bring the roof down, but Rothwieler showed his international experience and won the fight by points.

3. 3. Junior Catch weight under 54kgs – Khayalethu Ndlovu beat Wanda Dube by retiring after the 2nd round

4. 4. Junior Lightweight – Mkhululi ‘MP3’ Mlanjeni beat Lucky Mavimbela by points

5. 5. Catch weight under 67kg Danie ‘Danger’ Joubert beat Mitila Mtya by TKO in the first round

6. 6. Female Senior Lightweight – Jacqui De Beer beat Ncamisile Nzama by TKO in the first round

7. 7. Senior Welterweight – Jln Xem beat Temba ‘Simo’ Mkhize by points
