Origins 9: A New Champion is Crowned

For many the weekend is a time to relax and kick back after a hard week in the office, but for the guys at Origins 9 this weekend that was definitely not the case. Promoter Pamorn Martdee put together a stacked card full of professional muaythai bouts featuring the best of the best of Ozzy talent keeping many in the muaythai vicinity rushed off their feet.

The undercard was absolutely stacked with pure talent and future heroes which left the packed venue sitting on their edges of their seats .

In the semi-main event Brant Soden defeated Nelson Laki in another cracker match up.

The headlining bout of the evening saw Eddy D’Uva take on hard-hitting Joe “The Rock” McCoy (CGFT) with the vacant WMC light-welterweight state title on the table. This fight was a five round spectacular as both fighters showed heart and determination, refusing to give up. After an intensely close fight the bout went to the judges score cards in favour of Eddy D’Uva who had a beaming smile as the belt was placed around his waist.

Muaythai Australia General Secretary and top IFMA ITO Abby Nelson stated that “These are difficult times with the pandemic still at large but we must keep pressing on to ensure the development of our sport. For many people muaythai is their life and only source of income so respect to Origins for providing a platform for fighters to compete on during the Covid era”.

A massive thank you must go out from the WMC to the Origins team and especially promoter Pamorn Martdee for braving the storm during these unprecedented times and pulling an amazing show out of the bag. We are all very much looking forward to witnessing Origins 10.
