The WMC family would like to express our sincere condolences for the recent passing of Wichit Somboon, known and loved in the Muaythai world as Nokweed Davy.

His tragically early death at just 51 years is a loss to our sport community.

We wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends, and colleagues who are affected greatly by this loss. He will be missed.

Nokweed had many memorable achievements, holding the Rajadamnern stadium title across an astonishing three different weight categories. He also held the World Muaythai Council title at 147lbs, and fought K-1 in 1995 in spite of being much lighter than the typical fighters in this style.

Born in the southern Thailand town of Nakorn Si Thammarat, he became a familiar face at Muaythai gyms in the area after his retirement. Nokweed was a much-loved trainer working with some of the biggest names in the Muaythai world. Among those he trained to success were Paul Slowinski, Dzhaber Askerov and Nathalie Zoukatas.

We remember him and those whose lives he touched are in our thoughts and prayers.

Rest in Peace RIP.
